Tate and Pruiett Earn Player of the Week Honors

The lady lions had two sophomores snatch the first player of the week titles for the Region V North conference.

Middle blocker Christallynn Tate of Midland, Texas, tallied 53 kills, 13 blocks, and a .330 hitting average. Tate's highlight match included a 20 kill and 4 block game against Coastal Bend Community College, to help the team take the 5 set win.

Shaelyn Pruiett, from Gunter, Texas, tallied 67 digs, 69 service receptions and 6 aces to clinch the selection. Pruiett's highlight match included a 19 dig, 16 service reception, and 5 ace game against Wharton College, to add to the 4 set win. 

In a team effort, the lady lions took 3 matches at the Midland College Invitational over Wharton College, Coastal Bend Community College, and Midland College, losing only to top ten nationally ranked New Mexico Junior College.

This past weekend, the volleyball team again went 3-1, winning games against Lee College, Dallas College- Brookhaven, and Southwestern Christian Community College. The lady lions fell to Blinn College, who they will see again this weekend at the Blinn College Invitational and again at home on September 9th for the NCTC Invitational Tournament.
