Seven Track Athletes Look to Compete at Nationals

The lion and lady lion track & field teams will travel to the NJCAA National Championship Meet in Monroe, Louisiana to compete on May 16th-18th.

The women's 4x800 team, consisting of Ashlen and Katlen Clem, Ali Gutierrez, Glorie Kabuin, and Maria Burgos will compete for a title against the top relay teams in the country, as they are ranked in the top 8. The 4x800 relay is not the only event for the Clem sister duo, as Ashlen will run the 1500m race and Katlen will take on the steeple chase event. Along with the Clems, Kabuin looks to race in the 800m open event.

For the 5k race, Anjelika Abraham qualified and will compete for NCTC. Kyla Metzler has also qualified to compete at nationals, as she currently sits 5th in NJCAA in the long jump. Metzler will be participating in the triple jump at nationals as well.

Brian Kiplangat looks to make a showing for the men's track and field team as he qualified in the 800m open race.

"What an incredible achievement for our team, but especially for our sophomores this year returning to nationals for the second year in a row- this trip being their fourth and final nationals experience. With the hard work they have put in, the team is determined to finish strong and cap off amazing careers as NCTC athletes," Coach Lonergan states.

The NCTC athletics community wishes the national qualifiers luck at they take on the national track meet!
