
The lion baseball team competed in a three game series with Panola Junior College on February 14th and 15th, along with a single game versus Dallas College- Richland on February 17th.
After dropping the first game with PJC, the lions came back fighting hard in game two. Kevin Diaz and Colson Wood led the way offensively contributing an RBI each for the lions, with Diaz earning a triple and a double. With the combined pitching efforts of Austin Kyle, Jace Patton, and Landon Campbell, the lions worked to hold off PJC through a competitive game, but just fell short with a final score of 3-4.
In game three with PJC, Austin Myers made a strong batting debut, hitting two doubles and earning an RBI, along with William Hickson with a home run, earning another RBI. Sophomore Drew Thompson added another RBI for the team as well. After a hard fought matchup, Panola took game three 7-4.
Taking on Dallas College- Richland next, the lions fell at Richland 7-8. Sean Rabe earned 2 RBI, followed by Julian Gonzalez and Ethan Minor who each added another RBI. Jacob Hamilton led the way pitching 4 innings, taking on 20 batters with 5 strikeouts. Brayden Stout followed after, taking on 13 batters with 2 strikeouts.
Next up, the lions will travel to Abilene to compete in a double header with Midland College at the John J. Hunter Field. The games will take place on February 26th, starting at 1:00pm.
