Lady Lion Tennis Opens v 6th ranked St. Petersburg

NCTC vs St. Petersburg

 

   The lady lion's tennis team under coach Brian Waddell opened their spring season ranked #8 nationally and took on the # 6 ranked team from Florida (St. Petersburg). St. Pete was playing their 5th match of the season and were undefeated and took down the lady lions by the score of 8-1. Four of the single matches went to the third set tie-breaker with St. Pete winning three of the four.

   The doubles line up for the lady lions were;

NCTC vs Cowley College

 

   The second match of the day for the lady lions was against Cowley College (who came into the match ranked #5 Nationally) also with a 5-0 won / lost record on the young spring season. The doubles matches were very competitive but the tigers of Cowley came away with all three victories.

   The singles matches were just as competitive as the doubles matches and the lady lions came away with one win and losing three others by close scores. Playing for the lady lions in the afternoon matches were;

This was a very difficult way to start off the new spring season against two of the top teams in the nation " said coach Waddell " but we found very quickly that we are very good but we have lots to work on and improve on. The lady lions will take on Barton County College from Kansas tomorrow (Saturday) and they come in with the #11 national ranking.
