Volleyball Splits at Blinn College Invitational

Volleyball returned from the BLinn College Tournament 2-2 after facing four tough opponents. 

 

Friday

Friday was a five set rematch with Trinity Valley College who currently ranks fifth in the nation. The Lions fell in 5 despite an impresssive offensive effort from Jocelyn Grewing with 18 Kills on a .412 clip. The team will host Trinity Valley for the third match up this fall at the NCTC Tournament at Home. 

The Team returned in the afternoon to face off with Host Team Blinn College. The team tried to ralley behind Freshman Malley Morris's offensive threat, but ultimatley fell in three sets behind a high powered offensive Blinn team. 

 

Saturday 

The Lions opened on Saturday verse Midland College and came out on top in set 4. The team's offense rebounded to a .234 Hitting Clip. Freshman Malley Morris and Sophomore Captain Jordan Babcock pitched in 10 and 14 kills, respectively. Sophomore Libero Meredith McPeek dug 26 balls in the four set to give Sophomore Captain Allie Hamsher an opportunity to extend the offense. 

Match Two of the day also concluded in a win verse Clarendon College. Meredith McPeek anchored the defense again with 29 Digs, but freshman Malley Morris hit her first double-double adding 17 Kills and 14 Digs. Sophomore Captain Allie Hamsher had five players swinging above a .250 clip in Freshman teammates Malley Morris, Ryanne Tidwell, and KC Ortega as well as returning sophomores Megan Harris and Jordan Babcock

 

The Lions will return at home on Friday to host the NCTC Invitational:
