The Lady Lions came home finishing 1-3 in their opening weekend.
The Lions opened with a match vs Odessa College and fell in 4 sets despite team efforts across the board. They bounced back that night facing Pima College out of Arizona, and battled to a 5 set win behind Megan Harris and Jocelyn Grewing's 11 Kills a piece. Hattie Murray paved the way at the net contributing 4 solo blocks to seal the match. Mia Cooke contributed 19 Digs in the Libero jersey and Megan Harris threw in 17 of her own, making it her 1st double double of the season.
The next day the Lions returned to fall in another 5 set match vs Yavapai. Allie Hamsher was in every statistical column contributing 9 Kills, 23 Assists and 7 Digs to stabilze the Lion Efforts. Haley Vaughn also pitched in 20 assists including Kill Leader Megan Harris and Katelyn Erickson. Megan Harris had 16 Digs making it her second double double of the season. dd
The Lady Lions fell in 3 sets to Nationally Ranked Fifth New Mexico Military Institute. Allie Hamsher and Mia Cooke each dug 11 balls to try and give the Lions some offensive momentum, but the group fell short only hitting .045 as a team.
The Lions will return to face the defenging NJCAA Division Three National Champion Eastfield this Wednesday August 29th at home.
