Softball Starts 2-2 in Weekend Opener

The Softball Team Opened their weekend with 4 games against Seminole St, Tyler Junior College, and Paris College. The Game Recaps are below: 

 

 

GAME 1 vs Seminole St.

 

Lady Lions Defeated By Trojans

One bright spot for Lady Lions was a single by Jessie Frausto in the second inning.

Taia Harris got the start for Trojans. She allowed three hits and zero runs over four and two-thirds innings, striking out six and walking one.

Gabriela Lopez was in the pitcher's circle for Lady Lions. She lasted six innings, allowing six hits and four runs while striking out five. Kylie Bowen threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.

LopezFrausto, and Kameron Cheshier each collected one hit to lead Lady Lions.

Shayla Harper led Trojans with three hits in four at bats. Trojans was sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Taylor Rowley had the most chances in the field with eight.

Tyler Junior College Apaches Runs Away With Early Lead In Victory

Lady Lions watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in a 7-2 loss to Tyler Junior College Apaches on Friday.

Tyler Junior College Apaches opened up scoring in the first inning. Maleah Olvera grounded out, scoring one run.

Hannah Frank was credited with the victory for Tyler Junior College Apaches. She lasted four innings, allowing two hits and two runs while striking out six. Emilie Hoelscher threw three innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Elizabeth Schroeter took the loss for Lady Lions. She surrendered five runs on seven hits over five innings, striking out four.

Kenzlee ZaherEmylee PerryKatie Smith, and Peyton Streetman each collected one hit to lead Lady Lions.

Tyler Junior College Apaches totaled eight hits. Madison Hale and Tanjala Smith each managed multiple hits for Tyler Junior College Apaches. Tyler Junior College Apaches didn't commit a single error in the field. Bailey Krolczyk had nine chances in the field, the most on the team.

Lady Lions Grabs Lead In Eighth Inning For Victory Over Paris

Lady Lions nabbed the lead late in the game in a 9-8 victory over Paris on Saturday. The game was tied at eight with Lady Lions batting in the top of the eighth when Jessie Frausto singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.

Lady Lions built a four-run lead in the second inning and then held off Paris's charge. Paris tallied six runs in the failed comeback. H ShultzM StokesK SoriaH GriderShultz, and Stokes each picked up RBIs.

Lady Lions got on the board in the first inning. Lady Lions scored three runs when Frausto homered.

Lady Lions knotted the game up at eight in the top of the seventh inning, when Sylvia Murillo doubled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run.

After Lady Lions scored two runs in the top of the second, Paris answered with two of their own. Lady Lions scored when Kenzlee Zaher singled on a 2-0 count, scoring two runs. Paris then answered when Shultz hit a solo homer and Stokes grounded out, scoring one run.

Elizabeth Schroeter pitched Lady Lions to victory. She surrendered zero runs on one hit over one and two-thirds innings, striking out three and walking zero. Gabriela Lopez threw three and a third innings in relief out of the bullpen.

S Morales was on the rubber for Paris. She lasted seven innings, allowing 11 hits and nine runs while striking out two. C Knighton threw one inning in relief.

Murillo started the game for Lady Lions. She surrendered four runs on four hits over three innings, striking out three

Lady Lions hit one home run on the day. Frausto had a four bagger in the first inning.

GAME 4 @ Paris Junior College

 

Five RBI Day For Sylvia Murillo Leads Lady Lions Past Paris

Sylvia Murillo was clutch at the plate with runners on base on Saturday, driving in five on two hits to lead Lady Lions past Paris 12-1 on Saturday. Murillo drove in runs on a double in the first and a home run in the second.

Lady Lions got things moving in the first inning, when P Shelton induced Jessie Frausto to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored.

Elizabeth Schroeter was the winning pitcher for Lady Lions. She went three innings, allowing one run on five hits, striking out four and walking zero. Kylie Bowen threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Shelton toed the rubber for Paris. She surrendered five runs on three hits over one-third of an inning, walking one. A Allen and A Clevenger entered the game as relief, throwing three and a third innings and one and one-third innings respectively.

Lady Lions tallied three home runs on the day. Logan Kegley put one out in the fourth inning. Murillo went deep in the second inning. Kenzlee Zaher had a homer in the fifth inning.
