Baseball Opens with Two Wins in Double Header

The NCTC Lions Baseball Opened with two wins in their double header against Oklahoma Christian on Monday. Recaps Below: 

 

Game 1 

Three Pitchers Team Up as North Central Texas Lions Defeats Oklahoma Christian in Shut-Out

North Central Texas Lions defeated Oklahoma Christian 10-0 on Monday as three pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Sam Clark struck out JD Frazier to finish off the game.

North Central Texas Lions got things started in the first inning. North Central Texas Lions scored one run when Kaddin Mikulik doubled.

North Central Texas Lions scored five runs in the second inning. Sam Haigwood, Clay Stevens, Mikulik, and Colby Seltzer each had RBIs in the frame.

A single by Tanner Wade in the second inning was a positive for Oklahoma Christian.

Zeke Wood earned the win for North Central Texas Lions. He allowed two hits and zero runs over three innings, striking out six. Dawson Beard and Clark entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.

Ty Dudley took the loss for Oklahoma Christian. He surrendered six runs on seven hits over two innings, striking out two and walking one.

North Central Texas Lions socked one home run on the day. Josh Blankenship had a homer in the fifth inning.

North Central Texas Lions tallied 13 hits on the day. Stevens, Kevin Perez, Haigwood, Seltzer, and Mikulik all managed multiple hits for North Central Texas Lions. Stevens went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead North Central Texas Lions in hits.

 

Game 2 

North Central Texas Lions Clinches Lead in Sixth Inning for Victory Over Oklahoma Christian

North Central Texas Lions defeated Oklahoma Christian 6-4 on Monday after taking the lead late in the game. North Central Texas Lions trailed 4-3 in the bottom of the sixth inning when Rance Rosas singled on a 1-1 count, scoring two runs.

Oklahoma Christian scored four runs in the fifth inning, but North Central Texas Lions still managed to pull out the victory. Caleb Janssen, Jaren Hill, and Mike Difore all drove in runs in the frame.

Dave Johnson took the win for North Central Texas Lions. He surrendered zero runs on zero hits over one inning, striking out one and walking one. Mason Rhone and Morris Austin entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief. Austin recorded the last three outs to earn the save for North Central Texas Lions.

Amus Braveheart took the loss for Oklahoma Christian. He surrendered three runs on two hits, walking zero.

Jordan Powell started the game for North Central Texas Lions. He went four innings, allowing zero runs on one hit, striking out ten and walking one Barry Young started the game for Oklahoma Christian. He allowed three hits and one run over three innings, striking out three

North Central Texas Lions smacked one home run on the day. Rosas had a long ball in the third inning.

North Central Texas Lions racked up 11 hits. Josh Blankenship, Rosas, Sam Haigwood, and Kaddin Mikulik all managed multiple hits for North Central Texas Lions. Mikulik, Haigwood, Rosas, and Blankenship each collected two hits to lead North Central Texas Lions. North Central Texas Lions was sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Nixon Brannan had the most chances in the field with 12.
